The RayMar Panel is professional, museum quality painting panel. We mount cotton and linen on 1/8 inch MDF through a commercial process with a pH neutral adhesive to bind the fabric and panel in a uniform way.  Next, we cover the reverse side of the panel with a gray melamine finish.  This creates an acid-free archival panel that resists warping and provides a permanent barrier against deterioration from moisture or mold.  This process creates an affordable, museum-quality painting board for artists.

TO ORDER, please select one of our Five Available Painting Textures:
Smooth Cotton Panels
Our smooth texture is a medium weight polyflax/cotton blend with an ultra smooth surface. It is triple acrylic primed for oil or acrylic paint. Creating minimal absorbency, this triple coating provides an ideal surface for portrait and fine detail painting. Our smooth texture canvas permits more paint manipulation and produces a translucent effect similar to oil primed linen.

Medium Cotton Panels
Our medium weight canvas is 100% cotton duck with a uniform medium texture. It is coated with a double acrylic acid-free priming for oil or acrylic paint. Designed for landscape painting, the absorbent texture grabs the paint for an opaque effect and also works well with water-based oil paint.

Claessens #15 Single Primed Linen Panels
Our single primed linen texture is Claessen's #15 100% Belgian, oil-primed linen exclusively for oil paint.  It is sized twice with zinc white primer bound with linseed oil and a top coating of titanium white oil paint. The medium texture, medium weight linen is a favorite of professional artists for its irregular weave and 0% absorbency.  It is suitable for portrait, landscape, and modern work with brush or palette knife application.

Portrait Panel - Claessens #13 Double Primed Linen

We are proud to introduce The Portrait Panel made with Claessens #13 double oil primed linen.  It is professional-grade, woven to exacting standards, is hand prepared and ideal for portrait and figure work.  Today artists all over the world consider the name Claessens to be synonymous with fine linen.

The linen is grown, sorted and processed with great care. Priming consists of applying synthetic glue which is less sensitive to humidity than hide glue.  The coating consists first of a double layer of glue to make it smooth and sturdier and to help resist the acids in oil paints.  Next the coating itself is a mixture of linseed oil as a binder with either zinc white or titanium white as grounds and pigments.  And in accordance with Belgian and European legislation toxic lead paint has not been used for years.

With a 57.9 TPI warp and 58.4 TPI weft at 11.35 ounces per square yard, 4 layers of priming and a finish coat the result is museum quality linen without equal.  The Portrait Panel is now available in 5 Packs!

We are proud to feature the painting "Admiration" by Aaron Westerberg, one of our artist customers, on the label of the Portrait Panel. To see more of Aaron's work, you may preview and purchase his new book The Artwork of Aaron Westerberg available for sale on blurb.com.  The book features drawings, paintings and step by step demonstrations.
