A textured and versatile linen with two coats of universal acrylic primer.

L22U Artfix Belgian linen is a strong, tight weave all purpose linen adaptable for virtually any style of painting. The linen is beautifully hand primed with two coats of Artfix's unique universal acrylic priming for the qualities of oil priming with the durability of acrylic. Unlike traditional "glossy" acrylic primers, the surface is a bit more matte and absorbent. L22U is the same weave as L21C except with acrylic instead of oil priming.

FEATURES of Artfix L22U:

  • Sized twice with specially formulated sizing to completely seal the fabric
  • Two coats of Artfix universal primer for the qualities of oil priming with the durability of acrylic
  • Surface is a bit more matte than traditional 'glossy' acrylic primers
  • Use with oils, water mixable oils, alkyds, acrylic paints, egg tempera and casein

Artfix Belgian linens are created for serious painters who insist on a superior surface and archival quality. For over 50 years, Artfix has been internationally recognized as the finest linen with a true conservator grade surface. All linens are meticulously hand primed in a small village in Provence, France by the Narozni family.

Julie Davis - Featured Artist Artfix L22U Linen Raymar Panel

Featured Artist:

"The Artfix L22U surface has that “just right” status with me. It’s smooth enough for me to wipe away passages when I need to, but has enough texture to hold the brushstrokes where I want them. And since it’s acrylic primed, I can use an acrylic or an oil-based ground if I choose to add some variety to the surface. I also appreciate the quality and durability of Raymar’s melamine backing. I’ve never had a panel warp or had the linen separate from the backing as I have with other brands, and the edges and corners hold up to plein air painting and travel. No dinged, chipped, or bent corners. The L22U is my panel of choice for both my plein air and studio work."

4 Raymar panel substrates available:
1/8" MDF - the original Raymar Panel. Our Medium Density Fiberboard has no added oils and the back of the board is sealed with our signature gray melamine to prevent warping and deterioration.

1/16" FeatherLite - Our original MDF panel but half as thick at only 1/16" thin. Designed for the traveling artists who needs a lightweight yet rigid panel. Available in sizes up to 12 x 16".

3/16" Gatorfoam - An extremely light yet strong archival board made from polystyrene foam between two wood-fiber facers. Ideal for travel and large panels.

2mm ACM - Aluminum Composite Material (a version of Dibond ®) is the ultimate rigid panel that is completely unaffected by humidity or heat. Made of two sheets of aluminum with a polyethylene core.

Panels appear in order from left to right: 3/16” Gatorfoam, 1/8” MDF, 2mm ACM, 1/16” FeatherLite
